DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Market Research: Establishes and maintains Market Research plan, grounded in the insights needs of the Segments and Functions, to address ongoing information needs while also building in the flexibility to handle non-planned, custom research project needs Oversees the planning, design, and implementation of qualitative and quantitative customer segmentation research initiatives to identify, to inform and to direct business segment specific investments by specific customers including communications, product development and service delivery. Leads the identification, development, and alignment of Market Research best practices and processes at CIGNA Identifies and prioritizes information gaps within CIGNA that can be filled with valid, reliable, and actionable Market Research information Maintains focus of CCMI function on actionable Market Research while eliminating ‘nice to know’ Market Research Delegates project responsibilities among CCMI team members while also providing hands-on management of strategic Market Research projects Evaluate and strengthen Market Research consultants and vendor capabilities to support anticipated needs including customer segmentation and concept screening. Strategy: Influences strategic decisions related to business strategies, channel strategies, product offerings, service delivery and long term strategic direction Drives a customer-focused culture within CIGNA by demonstrating the strategic and financial significance of a business anchored in deep customer, client, and business partner understanding Actively participates in corporate Strategy and Planning sessions representing the fact-based voice of customers, clients, and business partners People and Budget Management: Drives the People Strategy within CCMI including the successful execution of all recruiting, development, motivation, and retention efforts. Responsible for developing and mentoring direct reports and leading CCMI team to achieving defined goals. Drives a high performance market research culture via continuously evaluating team talent/skill sets available and talent/skill sets needed for world class Market Research function Manages an estimated $4.5M 2013 market research budget and all expense management activities through effective planning, monitoring, and forecasting. Tightly manages outside consultant and research vendor spending and builds internal capabilities as appropriate, to ensure the greatest value / highest leverage for our research investment
