Details: Manages a premier/excellent household customer portfolio. Profiling customers to determine their needs, then cross-selling appropriate products and services and/or referring customer to partners. GENERAL PURPOSE: Assists the Vice President (VP) of Plant Operations in the planning, directing and coordinating of the operational activities within 5 railcar maintenance (cleaning, repair, paint / coating) plants to meet customer, rail regulatory, and Rescar goals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to, the following:

 

  1. Working with Senior Management will assist in developing, communicating, and implementing the strategic direction and overall coordination pertaining to Rescar’s Railcar Maintenance Plant operations.
  2. Assists in the development and implementation of Rescar’s company and railcar maintenance polices, procedures, processes, and programs to maintain and improve the competitive position and profitability of the organization.  Ensures that plant operations follow polices, procedures, processes, and programs.
  3. Communicates Rescar’s goals, objectives, and expectations to locations.  Assists location management in developing a plan / strategy on how to achieve goals and expectations by utilizing internal and external resources.
  4. Reviews and assesses plant locations operation, work load, scheduled car flow and back log hours and ensures that location assets (e.g., people, processes, materials, measures, equipment, and conditions) are in place to meet efficiency and company goals.  
  5. Assists in setting and enforcing plant targets regarding staffing, safety, quality, equipment, tools, materials, production and other key performance indicators (KPIs). 
  6. Analyzes operations to evaluate the performance of plant locations and personnel in meeting established targets, objectives, goals and to determine areas of potential cost savings, production improvement, or policy change. 
  7. Reviews and approves plant budgets and holds operations accountable to meet them.  Analyzes and comprehends monthly financial statements, profit and loss (P&L) reports, sales data, revenue and other performance data for achievement of goals and to identify improvement opportunities.  Reviews hours generated daily for each plant, by department to monitor sales and profit versus budget.
  8. Reviews plants operating reports, performance metrics, and other KPIs daily and / or weekly and assists in establishing action plans or adjustments to address / correct any deficiencies.  Reviews daily reports to monitor railcar maintenance service efficiencies, utilization, through-put and cycle times at each plant to achieve operational goals.
  9. Evaluates performance of management and supervision, providing regular feedback and coaching on objectives, performance, and improvements needed. Recommends changes or additions in personnel as needed.
  10. Ensures best practices are communicated and implemented across plant network.
  11. Monitors, analyzes, and reports on objectives and results throughout the year, making operational adjustments where required to meet Rescar’s business plan.
  12. Establishes strong relationships with customers, and resolves customer inquiries and problems.
  13. Assists with negotiating or approving contracts / agreements with suppliers, distributors, vendors, or other organizational entities.
  14. Works with Department heads in Staffing, Training, Quality Assurance, Safety, Sales, Customer Service, and Human Resources to ensure goals and processes are communicated, implemented and followed throughout plant network.  Includes reviewing reports (e.g., staffing, training, safety, QA, etc.) and other related performance metrics and ensures data is current and meeting goals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ordering the window/door components and parts from the appropriate vendor via web order, fax, or e-mail. • Meeting deadlines and cut off schedules on a daily basis.
