Director, Distribution Analytics

The Director will address the growing need for strategic business modeling and Big Data management to support the efforts of various departments within Distribution: Sales, Business Development, Marketing and Product & Operations. This role will also be responsible for multiplatform analytics, both from the viewership and revenue stand point.
Big Data Analytics and Strategy
•Responsible for development of quantitative data models enabling the Distribution group to determine 1) causality of certain performance trends; 2) predicting future impact by performing regression analyses; 3) inform multiplatform strategy by performing valuation of opportunity analyses.
•Work with VP, Distribution Analytics to develop a comprehensive data strategy for the Analytics group.
oProactively evaluate all available data sources and identify potential synergies between them.
oDevelop the umbrella policies for standardization and integration of data and streamlining of business processes in order to support Distribution’s key goals and objectives.
oCollaborate with internal departments to identify currently inaccessible data sources.
Multiplatform Viewership Analytics
•Work in conjunction with Sr. Manager, Distribution Analytics to appropriately and accurately aggregate and report A+E Networks viewing across all platforms via MediaMorph platform or any other 3rd party system.
oCollaborate with other internal groups (Ad Sales, Digital Media, Finance, etc) to evaluate monetary value of each individual platform.
oMerge viewing data with revenues generated by each platform to develop a complete viewership vs. monetization picture and inform A+E Networks’ multiplatform strategy.
Business Case Development
•Apply higher-level analytics to develop business cases allowing Distribution Group to leverage A+E Networks’ content into greater revenue opportunities.
oWork with Business Development and Distribution Sales teams to inform and advance new revenue generating opportunities. Examples include: greater growth of History en Espanol, Bio / LMN conversion, transactional VOD, hotel network partnerships, fast forward disabling, C3 VOD, etc.
oCreate revenue models, assess risks / opportunities, provide analytical support, and make implementation recommendations to senior executives.

MSO-Specific Data Analytics
•Work in collaboration with Sr. Manager and Sr. Analyst to maximize the benefits of MSO-specific data sets. Develop a strategic plan for the most efficient way of aggregating MSO-specific data. Create data models to inform prioritization decisions for marketing support by MSO.
Analytics Representation on MSO Teams
•Provide Analytics support and participate on MSO teams (specific MSOs TBD), by gaining expert knowledge of issues pertaining to each MSO and proactively providing analytics in support of new deals, renewals or relationship building.
oDevelop meaningful relationships with analytics teams at our MVPD partners.
oDetermine which data metrics must be contractually agreed upon and find innovative ways to go beyond contractual obligations.
oPartner with MVPDs in developing data sharing arrangements to gain access to additional metrics.
Internal Data Efficiencies
•Create greater data use efficiencies for the distribution team.
oWork with Distribution Sales, Marketing and Operations to generate automated methods of processing the data related to their daily business.
oProject examples include: reevaluation of the Distribution Marketing “Annual” marketing spend, creating automated methodology for Distribution Operations to provide metadata for TV Everywhere schedules, streamlining data in Distribution Sales presentations.
SVOD Analytics
•Work with Sr. Director, Business Strategy to develop relevant analyses for the SVOD business.
oWork with Programming, Scheduling, Advertising Sales, Finance, International, Digital Media, Legal, and Business Development teams to accurately create revenue levers for these new business opportunities:

viewing source adjustments
exclusivity of content
impact to linear ratings
programming mix
brand relevancy

MFN considerations
Social Media Analytics
•Build knowledge of how social media can impact Distribution and define the necessary steps to use social media to create additional demand for A+E Networks, as well as prevent subscriber loss during contentious distribution negotiations.
oWork with experts within the social listening field (i.e) SocialGuide) to track the conversation surrounding both A+E’s competitors’ and A+E’s own negotiations with MVPDs or other providers.
oUncover patterns in the conversation as to timing, viewer allegiances, and sentiment.
oWork with the Distribution Marketing team to get in front of potential conflicts and direct the social media conversation in A+E Networks favor.

Overall Purpose: Performs non-technical project management work focused on internal AT&T projects.  Typically manages projects from initiation through delivery.  The project requirements are met by applying project management skills, tools and techniques to manage project scope, quality, schedule, resources and risks.  Projects/programs are typically very complex in nature, with project activities that are distinct for each new project, are company-wide, and require a high degree of analytical rigor.
Key Roles and Responsibilities: Work with the incumbent to develop, field and analyze the data from projects.  Work with cross functional teams and external vendors on all aspects of project lifecycle to complete projects and program deliverables within timeline and program budget.  Apply statistical techniques to result data to analyze areas of strength and possible improvements.  Apply basic cost accounting and budgeting processes to aid in cost control decisions.  Develop detailed work plans, schedules, estimates, resource plans and status reports.  Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews deliverables for quality before presentation.  Aids in the creation of project reports (PowerPoint, Excel, Word format) and provides recommendations to the project team.
