Description:

•         This individual will be expected to interpret MRP systems and enterprise wide Oracle based demand systems for the execution of purchase orders for inventory as well as non-inventory related items.

•         The person selected will plan and procure primary raw materials needed to support the Reliability Development Team from BCI approved sources.

•         The incumbent will develop a strong working knowledge of systems, materials, and sources to minimize risk to the business, following up on performance to schedules and work with others departments to assure the production schedules are met.

•         The incumbent will also keep abreast of industry trends on assigned commodities and work to improve overall quality, while meeting our cost reduction and delivery objectives.

•         The incumbent will work closely with the Development group in coordinating development projects to make sure that parts are available on time.

•         Must be strong in Excel and have good project management skills. The incumbent will be expected to follow standard practices and procedures.

•         Resolves invoicing and accounting issues as they arise.

•         This position will work strategically and use the latest tools to identify improvement ideas as well This position reports to the Procurement Manager for Instrumentation Hardware.

•         Plans and buys one or more specific commodities consistent with total quality, cost and schedule requirements.

•         The incumbent keeps abreast of industry trends for assigned commodities that may affect quality, cost, delivery, and manages supplier base and contract adherence.

•         Normally receives no instruction on routine work but will get work instructions on new assignments.

•         Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing data from which answers can be readily obtained.

•         Handles problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors.

Skills:

•         Essential Responsibilities include:

o    Will be expected to support Development projects working with the Commodity Managers to identify cost savings initiatives.

o    Identifies and drives continuous cost improvement using Lean Six Sigma tools.

o    Supports Value Engineering by identifying opportunities, negotiating pricing and getting bids.

o    Conducts supplier business reviews with Key Suppliers and performs deep dives where gaps are identified.

•         Responsible for managing risks before they become potential issues impacting the production line.

•         Plans and buys one or more specific commodities consistent with total quality, cost and schedule requirements.

•         The incumbent provides insightful information on industry trends for assigned commodities that may affect quality, cost, availability and/or risk; manages key and high risk suppliers to ensure continuous flow of materials and minimize company liability; may lead and/or participate on a team in contract negotiations with key suppliers; and may assist in high visibility projects.
