Seed Production Technician - Manufacturing & Engineering - Carroll, IA

The Production Technician will perform a wide variety of routine and non-routine plant, production operations duties,field operations and employee health and safety operations. Under general supervision the Production Technician works on assignments where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. May select appropriate procedures to complete tasks and work is performed within standard methods. This role may specialize in Field, Plant Operations, or specialized equipment related activities. The incumbent is expected to learn and participate in any areas as necessary per management request in order to meet site production objectives. Key Responsibilities Include: Operate seed processing equipment. Observe, record, and maintain data in appropriate formats to ensure operations process is maintained within standard guidelines. Treats and conditions planted seed paying special attention to handling any hazardous materials in a safe manner. Operate personal computer, and standard control systems. Has basic familiarity with crop database and computer software. Perform routine maintenance on equipment. May provide work direction to other operations technicians to accomplish daily activities, projects and assigned tasks. Assists with training of other operations staff as required. May be responsible to ensure operations facility is a safe and well maintained environment. May determine need for, recommended rates, and application of herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and fertilizers as required in a safe manner. Will need to perform chemical mixing tasks according to label recommendations and safety protocols. May assist in data collection at the direction of the Management staff. Records and reports deviations from normal operating procedures to Supervisor. Complete periodic audits of spray program, chemical inventory, WPS standards, MSDS/label program. May suggest new approaches or improvements based on technical information and work experience. Must be able to understand pesticide labels and requirements. May set up and operate simple and complex equipment including planters, tractors, forklifts, seed treater and seed counters. Follows oral instructions and written standard operating procedures. Provide stewardship for EH&S policies and practices in all work activities. Must pass and maintain commercial applicator’s license.

Coordination and supervision of the activities of field technicians and field crews planting, de-rouging, detasseling, certification, field inspection and harvest for the location. Conduct experiments and/or implement changes to field operations that will lead to understanding and optimizing production. Implement and coordinate the location quality inspection program including hiring of personnel, data collection, and data reporting to the State Improvement Association for field certification. Ensure that company isolation standards are met. Coordinate production research programs at the plant level. Assist in the development of location budgets and monitoring of spending against the budget. Develop and implement operating procedures necessary to safely complete field work and ensure proper training of field personnel. Exhibits employee behavior that supports the overall location safety program. (Leads by example). Active involvement in all staff and Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) meetings.

Software Test Engineer (SQA Engineer)

Details: The Software Test Engineer - Automated Testing will work on a team responsible for full lifecycle testing of ZOLL’s web based applications. In this role, this individual will help to develop processes and procedures to further the company’s capabilities in automated testing and to help to move the company from a manual testing to an automated testing environment. This person will be responsible for testing all layers of an n-tiered Microsoft web based suite of applications.  Duties and Responsibilities: •          Read and interpret functional (marketing) and technical (development) specifications and develop comprehensive test plans designed to perform functional and load testing. Functional testing should include edge and routine cases, data entry error, program logic errors, exceptions, etc. •          Design, develop, and trouble-shoot automated test scripts using web based automated test tools to validate the technical and functional integrity of web based components. This will include stored procedures, services, and web apps.  •          Configure test environments including Microsoft web servers, web browsers, MS SQL, and application installations. Configurations may include medical devices and communications devices such as serial modems, heart monitors, and other devices. •          Responsible for testing on .NET and IOS platforms utilizing IE, Safari, Chrome, and Firefox as clients •          Run and monitor test scripts in a  test environment. Interpret the resulting error logs and other output results. Trouble-shoot results to determine if the error is an engineering error or an error in the test script and/or database utilizing MS SQL and other data query tools. •          Create simulators as necessary to create test data streams for I/O devices such as heart monitors, GPS devices, in-vehicle navigations systems, and proprietary devices.  •          Collaborate as a member of a highly functional R&D team to perform testing on multiple applications and move from application team to application team as necessary. •          Adhere to professional standards regarding documentation, project management, quality, communication, and teamwork.

Understands and interprets required engineering drawings, instructions, and technical manuals. Resolves and corrects routine problems during operation, maintenance, and repair of delivered products. Ensures adequacy, accuracy, and thoroughness of product assembly, disassembly, repair, and functional test methods and procedures during the following repair. Complies with applicable safety and environmental protection practices. Position requires some world wide travel including austere work locations in support of customer needs. The ability to maintain, modify, and functionally tests structural, mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems on various aerospace products, at various levels of assembly with the guidance of more experienced technicians. Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance is required for this position.
