Packaging Sales Representative / Manager

Details: We’re a little startup company in Evanston, IL that needs the help of a talented, hungry sales representative.  We’re only interested in people that can’t wait to pull their weight in an incredible job in an incredible company.  Every person that works in this office thinks that this is a dream job.  Your role as our packaging sales representative is one of the best job opportunities that you’ll ever find.This job is the first sales person that we’re recruiting to help us run the PrintNinja business.  The first!  PrintNinja is a print brokerage.  We have facilities in China that can (and do) print anything. We’ve cut our teeth in a few categories while we have designed bulletproof printing quality processes in China.  We rolled our new website out in February and we continue to tweak it every day – and now we’re expanding the more-conventional sales side of the business.  We know what we do well and what we can’t do well, and we’ll help you understand all of that so that every call you make can be a call to a qualified prospect.  There’s no reason that this business – with our prospecting abilities and amazing prices – shouldn’t absolutely explode.  You’ll be the person that’s driving an awful lot of that.This is a new(ish) business for me, but this isn’t my first time hiring a salesperson for a startup business that seemed like it was about to explode.  The last hire in a different (back in 2002) helped that company grow until it had a 25-person outside sales staff.  That first hire grew into a very comfortable (and lucrative) National Sales Manager / VP Sales role. I’m proud of what we accomplished together, and I’m ready to find another person with whom I can make that fairy tale happen again. You’ll be working directly for me (the boss) and we’ll be learning our way into markets together. We’re going to have to find ways to find customers that need our printing services.  We’ll court those customers and close them.  It’s going to mean lots of cold calls and lots of really smart prospecting. (We have a team of market researchers in the office that will help us with prospecting – we already have more leads than we know what to do with.)  Travel will (probably) be very minimal, so if you’re tired of the road warrior lifestyle, this might be ideal for you.  This is a business-to-business sales position, so you’ll work the same normal office hours that your customers work.We’re looking for a very specific blend of skills in this person. You’ve got to have robust sales experience.  It will be most useful if you have background and/or training in printing, graphic arts. It’s a problem (though we don’t know how much) if you don’t have recent experience in that space.  In any event, each candidate is going to be judged on their own merits, their bandwidth, and their future potential. You need to be prepared for an incredible journey and you need to be ready to drink from the proverbial garden hose.  I’ve said it before – I’m looking for someone that I can grow into a sales manager or a National Accounts person as a member of the management team.  Compensation?  Well, that’s going to depend.  We may hire an eager, less-experienced person with lots of drive but no particular packaging experience.  Or we may hire someone that already has National Sales Manager qualifications and already knows how to close complex accounts.  We would – obviously – pay those people different amounts of money based on their qualifications.  No matter what kind of candidate we hire, I envision this as a full-time, salaried sales role with some kind of bonus-based compensation that we agree to annually.  It might be number of customers, total sales dollars, a per-customer account based on volume, etc.  I’m flexible, and I recognize that the numbers will change as we decide on outside reps, additional reps, etc.  So send your resume and let’s start talking. Controls Engineer
