The ideal candidate for this position should have a background in Electrical Engineer, specifically with design. Knowledge of electrical codes such as IEC,UL,CSA, and NEC should be standard. This person should also have a focus within the renewable energy industry and have previous experience working with Wind energy, however, there may also be experience with Solar and Hydro-Electricity present on this candidate’s resume. Electrical schematics, ladder logic, and circuit/voltage regulations should be recognized by the ideal candidate. Primary Function:Electrical and Controls Center of Excellence (E&C CoE) is responsible for delivering high quality electrical components for GE Wind Turbines. In execution of this mission, and to meet its business commitments for 2013/14, the E&C CoE needs to partner with a contract agency with highly skilled electrical engineering resources with ability to immediately team up with the GE Wind Electrical Systems team and rapidly engage in execution and delivery of these commitments.The Wind Electrical Design Engineer is part of the Wind Electrical Systems team. The team’s scope includes the generator, main transformer, the MVSG, the slipring, the power conductors & control cabling etc. within GE wind turbines. Responsibilities: Execute Engineering design work on wind turbine electrical components and their assembly within the wind turbine system. Definition of component requirements and characteristics, technical clarification, interface definition, prototyping, testing, introduction into manufacturing and issue resolution in the installed fleet. Creation and control of complete technical documentation of electrical components and subassemblies, including specifications, bills of material, drawings and schematics. Ensure compliance of components to international codes and standards like IEC, UL, CSA, ISO, CE, CCC, DIN etc. Work with global and cross-functional teams to leverage ‘Best Practice’ for electrical component design, testing and validation procedures. Preparation Work Desk Instructions (WDI), and Manufacturing manuals. Support Sourcing organization for new supplier qualification and supplier audits e.g. by supporting first piece qualifications. Support site root cause analysis on technical issues. Work closely with the Technical Leaders and global team members to ensure high quality and on-time delivery for all engineering assignments.
