Lighting Design Engineer II

Details: This position is responsible to lead in the research and design of electrical and lighting products. Will also have technical expertise for assigned product lines and demonstrate specialized skills in certain areas. This position provides design leadership and often provides direction to other technical support personnel. KEY RESULT AREASA.        Initiates research and design on new products. Participates in the development of the design parameters. Performs formal and informal research activities. Reviews conceptual designs with Manufacturing and Purchasing personnel to determine preliminary methods, tooling requirements and projected costs. Develops product quotes that include material costs, internal labor requirements, and other external costs. B.        Leads the product design efforts on new products and changes to existing products for release to Manufacturing. Working from project criteria, determines technical risks and development approaches. Applies engineering principals in developing final designs working closely with Manufacturing, Purchasing and other appropriate areas of the company. Independently determines design tasks and assigns to engineering personnel as appropriate. Obtains support as needed from senior level technical personnel.  Ensures that detailed engineering drawings and design specifications are completed. Conducts design reviews to gain approval from product stakeholders. Performs prototyping, piloting and testing as required to validate product design. Prepares or coordinates the preparation of necessary documentation (e.g., prints, ECO, etc.) to launch the product or implement the appropriate change. Champions the product design introductions to full release addressing and resolving problems through all stages of the release process. C.        Prepares product data for input into the business system. Prepares written product specifications and engineering data. Determines BOM layout and Product Structure in coordination with Document Control and Configurator personnel. Supports Configuration testing by verifying configured BOMs. D.        Acts as a technical resource responding to questions from customer service, product technicians, manufacturing and Stylmark’s management team related to new products and modifications to standard products. OTHER DUTIES Prepares drawings, samples and prototypes to be used for marketing and sales.
