Logistics Process Technician

Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment.  Duties: Set up packaging lines to include machine changeovers with minimal interruption of production flow. Create and maintain packaging and shipping standard work to establish sequence of operations and labor standards. Collect data from multiple sources to create and maintain packaging and shipping work instructions at a level appropriate to the end user. Train and certify employees on use of equipment including forklift and Wave picker. Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment. Coordinate testing of new packaging and evaluate results Coordinate the development of new tooling or fixtures for packaging Coordinate the transition of packaging changes. Review customer requirements and maintain documentation to ensure order fulfillment to customer request. Maintain custom shipping label formats and make changes per customer requests. Create and maintain label information for printing packaging labels including managing the size of labels and customer specific formats and information. Problem solve existing packaging design issues and make improvements as needed. Be the subject matter expert on Laser engraving to include machine operation, trouble-shooting, PM, artwork processing and laser utilization reports. Lead continuous improvement projects and report on cost savings or productivity gains. Lead cycle counting team. Perform cycle counting.  Investigate and report discrepancies.  Track cycle counting performance on a daily basis and create monthly summaries. Process customer returns and resolve discrepancies between documentation and actual returned product.  Enter inventory transaction into MFG/Pro.  Provide information/data to credit department.   Manage packaging data (dimensions, weights, freight class, NMFC, HTS, etc.) and update BOM structure for all configurations. Develop, size and manage master cartons. Provide project support by gathering data from multiple information systems and creating reports using Microsoft Word and Excel. Analyze operations information regarding Kanban quantities and provide input and recommendations on Kanban quantities and processes to include creating Kanban cards. Back-up Logistics Scheduler. Perform AQL audit of packaged product and packed shipments.  Provide monthly summary of results. Logistics Scheduler

Details: Leatherman Tool Group, Inc. is seeking a Logistics Scheduler for our world headquarters located in Portland, Oregon.  Leatherman is the world leader in the design and manufacturer of innovative, high quality, compact, multi-purpose tools.   We employ over 500 team members in our 90,000 square feet facility.  Visit our website at: www.leatherman.com  The successful candidate for our Logistics Scheduler will facilitate the successful operations of Logistics through aggressive management of material flow to completion of sales order shipments.  Utilize Lean principles to achieve key performance metrics.  Gather data from multiple data systems to facilitate order management by the coordination of packaging and shipping schedules to meet customer order on-time performance. Duties: Provide project support by gathering data from multiple information systems and creating reports using Microsoft Excel and Word. Coordinate critical orders through packaging to ensure timely processing and shipment with required time frames. Generate packaging work orders including Kanban, discrete and/or repetitive orders. Manage international orders to include: Develop weekly international shipment schedule collaborating with Customer Service team. Create packaging work orders giving order pullers priorities. Problem solve product shortages by reconfiguration or substitutions. Ensure all shipping supplies are on hand (colored tape/shrink wrap/shrouds/banding, etc.). Coordinate with Customer Service on freight forwarder requirements. Prepare export documentation. Continuously review shipping schedule to anticipate any delays in meeting the schedule and coordinate with appropriate support groups to put in place a recovery plan. Route Customer shipments based on Customer direction to ensure on time delivery of product and avoid charge backs. Release orders based on product availability for shipment in WMS/TMS system to enable Shippers to pick, pack and ship orders to Customers. Prioritize Customer orders based on “Hot" list and Customer requirements and give direction to the Shippers to fulfill these commitments. Provide updates of order status and coordinate priorities for product shortages and new product releases to Customer Service team. Maintain Customer routing guides and work instructions on how to obtain Customer routing instructions. Schedule and perform cycle counting.  Investigate and report discrepancies.  Track cycle counting performance on a daily basis and create monthly summaries.  Maintain daily on-time tracking misses and root causes for misses. Track and report Customer chargebacks/fines on KPI board. Maintain data integrity in ERP/WMS/TMS systems. Participate in continuous improvement projects. POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Responsible for the safe and reliable transport of finished baked goods to Company distribution points.
  • Operate transport vehicle safely, ensuring vehicle meets all DOT laws and Company standards.
  • Unload trailer and reload with equipment or other items being returned to plant locations.
  • Control and document all applicable written reports and procedures.
  • Accurately track work hours/schedules and mileage, properly document required pre-trip inspection of truck and notify management of any quality or safety issues.
  • The work can be physically demanding including pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds or more on a regular basis.Maintain cleanliness of equipment.
    Initially the position will involve relief coverage for vacations and other absences with later opportunities to bid onto set routes. Hours will vary and are not guaranteed. Applicants must be able to work any available shift and/or days or nights.


    Position Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must possess a Class A driver's license
  • Must have at lest 2 years experience over-the-road tractor-trailer
